4th Feb: Masterclass with Bob Ferguson “The Art of Writing Winning Speeches”
Did you know the number one challenge in producing a speech… is WRITING IT!
If your mind is blank, you can ask the right questions to produce a good speech every time. But what will make it the great speech you need for the international speech contest?
In this session Bob will explain his process for writing good speeches that work inside and outside Toastmasters, consistently. He’ll also explain what makes it great for any audience, and how greatness is different inside Toastmasters and in the business world.
In this Masterclass, you’ll learn how to:
· Ask the right questions to overcome writer’s block anytime.
· Come up with the inspiration for new speech subjects.
· Structure your speech so it’s easy to write, deliver and for the audience to understand.
· Keep the audience engaged and attentive right the way through.
· Understand the role of inspiration and perspiration in writing great speeches.
· What you need to take your speech from good to great.
· Develop and use stories for maximum effect.
Bob is a Speaking Coach to professionals in the business world. He has been a Toastmaster for 29 years and learnt a huge amount from both the Toastmasters educational system and competing in the speech championships.
He has worked through all roles up to Division Director and achieved DTM. His competition efforts led to even more learning. He achieved District Champion in the International, Evaluation and Humorous speech contests. The International contest gave him the honour of representing the UK and Ireland in the semi-finals of the World Public Speaking Championships in America.
Bob has also developed his speaking skills outside of Toastmasters. Many of the lessons Bob learnt came from working for 3 months with the 1999 World Champion of Public Speaking, Craig Valentine. His time with Craig led to his achievement of World Class Speaker Coach Status.
Bob brings this unique combined perspective of Toastmasters, personal development and business speaking to every session he delivers.
